ENGLISH SEMANTICS As a way of preamble, language is a phenomenon employed by man and used as a tool of communication. Without it, the essence of humanity could have closed to nil. Because, one of the major factors that separate us from animals is language, a cul tural herita ge of man. Language is said to contain many facets of study which the linguists, till date, are still ma k ing turns of attempt to learn. The quest for the use of language has brought the linguists to the study of many aspects of linguistics whe re semantics, as a field of study, is identified, which primary essence is making "meaning". In effect, the study of semantics by linguists is paramount because the essence of language is interaction. If, however, meaning is not communicated in the cause o f interaction , language is considered a misfit.
